So this week and after we come back from winter break we are doing tutorials to learn how to make different parts of an animated landscape. Personally, I don't really prefer tutorials as I find them boring and they usually lack much enthusiasm but so far these have not been that bad. I have already done about half the tutorials and I have found that they give me a better understanding of what you can do with certain tools. We have been using the burn and dodge tools a lot and also the lasso but I think the one thing that really stuck out to me was that you can actually edit which areas you select without actually having to redo the whole thing. I know that may sound boring to a lot of people and to be honest it isn't super cool but I think it is a very good tool to know about. Another thing we learned how to do was to use filters which add a really great touch because you can make your item very pixelated or really do anything you want. I know that some people reading this might not know what some of the tools do (like me) so I will add a link to explain the basics of each tool. Overall while the next couple weeks in class might not be the most fun, they will be very interesting and helpful in how to editing and create different items using bitmap editing.

So in this quarter we are learning a lot more about Photoshop and design techniques, and I have to say that this is one of my favorite topics that we have learned all year. I think that it is such a valuable thing to know and if I continue with this pathway, it will help me a lot. The Photoshop tools help me edit and create images which I have never been able to do and now that I can, I love it. I can finally edit images which before seemed like a long ways away. I am so happy that I learned all these things because it has made my experience in this class better and overall I think that this class has felt a lot better for me after the first quarter.

For the past week we have been once again focusing on new tools in Photoshop. These tools have to be some of my favorites because of all the cool things you can do with them. We have been using bitmap editing features which are in Photoshop and so far I have found them to be very interesting. Basically bitmaps are tons of cells mixed together to form pixels, which each have their own color value. Have you ever zoomed in on an image and saw the image form blocks. Well, those are pixels. The more pixels you have is how detailed your image is and when you have more pixels it allows you to use different color very effectively. We have been using the editing software in Photoshop to edit bitmap images. We use many tools like the burn and dodge tool (to lighten or darken a image) and multiple selection tools along with quick mask to take certain areas out of pictures. This allows as a way to combine images and also take out unnecessary parts. Another thing we learned about is destructive and nondestructive editing. If you couldn't tell by the name, destructive editing actually destroys part of the original image while nondestructive is the opposite. This really makes you think about whether you need to use certain tools because you may need to change it later. Overall bitmap editing is really cool and these Photoshop tools get kind of confusing but in the end, they are very helpful.

So for the past 2-3 weeks, I have been addicted to Star Wars Battlefront 2. This game through its great graphics, amazing story, and large multiplayer warfare has really had me hooked. In this second installation of the star wars battlefront series they really improved overall. I have to say my favorite thing is that the story of the game lets you test out many characters while also following the main journey of Iden Versio. This new format really helped me separate this game from a lot of others and that is on of the reasons why this is my favorite game right now. although the story was one of the best aspects in the game, there are some things I wish they would change. I found myself dying multiple times on certain parts and having to replay a long flight section or long run just to get back to where I was. I found this very annoying because it meant that I had to spend a lot of time traveling and playing the mission over again. The multiplayer was also very similar to the first game which was actually very pleasant because I found it very easy to get used to and overall very fun to play. I really like how they allow you to change classes and allow for different customization in your lode out. The only problem with this is that they use loot crates to give you these items which support in game purchases. Overall I am completely addicted to this game and I will be playing it for a long time after this.
