This week we were tasked with finding a professional modeler working in 3DS max and seeing how we can improve and grow more towards their style and level of design. I was looking around on different websites to find professionals. I was looking on ArtStation and I found a professional with the name Yekaterina Bourykina. She primarily focuses on character modeling and skin designing for different characters in games like League of Legends. She also works at Riot Games as a 3D Character Artist. This is a re skin for a character in League of Legends named Thresh. She titled this piece high noon thresh copying the name of a different skin for a different character. She primarily focuses on character modeling which we haven't done much of in class and I don't know much about. Modeling people is not really my strong suit but I still attempted to make a character. My Character isn't the best but that's something that I definitely need to improve on as we keep 3D modeling. I am going to try to get to be able to 3D model as well as she can and hopefully be good enough to work in the industry one day. Overall character modeling is what I want to strive towards and hopefully as I keep improving in this class I hope to get better at character modeling and one day be able to get to this level.

So for the last week we have still been working with Adobe Illustrator and now that we are doing more activities I am starting to realize how confusing it really is. The main activity we were working on this week was an activity where you create the incredible hulk out of just normal shapes using the shape builder. I had a little bit of trouble with this between lining everything up and just making it look right with color and added details. After this I found how difficult something so simple really can be troubling if not done correctly. Because of this I just wanted to explain what the shape builder does. The shape builder is a very useful tool because it allows you to add and delete parts of overlapping shapes and create one single shape. Overall after this whole experience I feel like once again Illustrator is becoming easier but I am not at the point where doing anything is really easily.

For the past 2 weeks we have been working on creating characters in orthographic view and making comic strips/storyboards. This project was very needed for me because it helped me see what I need to improve on and why story boarding and orthographic characters are so important. The way in which this has really helped me improve is that it has really made me think about trying to become a better artist. I have noticed that my drawings in terms of background images are pretty good but, I really do need to improve on my character design. I need to do this because character design is not the easiest thing for me and I do not think I'm very good at it right now. In terms of the importance of story boarding and orthographic characters. I learned that story boarding is important because it is a big step in the planning phase and mainly helps pitch ideas about your game. The reason it is so good at this is because story boarding is basically a layout of all the scenes in the animation or game and it shows certain design elements in terms of character, background, and movement which really helps show everything about the game. The orthographic drawing is important because one, it can be used in the storyboard and two, it tells the designer the exact measurements of the character and what the character is supposed to look like. Because of this when orthographic characters are drawn it is very important to get all the measurements right and make sure everything lines up on all sides. Together I think orthographic characters and storyboards are some of the biggest parts of game design.
